Aztec Slavery

In Aztec society, slaves were people from tribes that the Aztecs conquered. When the Aztecs won a war against another tribe, they would take over the tribe's land and make them supply food, clothing, pottery, and anything else the Aztec rulers, priests, and nobles needed.

Aztec slaves were generally well-treated. The tribe was allowed to keep their own customs instead of the Aztecs forcing them to follow Aztec culture. Slavery wasn't hereditary so the children of slaves were free, which is very different from other societies' view of slave children. Slaves could also earn their freedom by buying it. However, Aztec slaves were still the most frequently used people for human sacrifices, just like in the Mayan Civilization.
